Q. How do I find a company's Common Size Income Statement?

A company's Common Size Income Statement can be found in two of McDermott Library's databases: Mergent Online, and Business Source Complete. Here is an example using Mergent:

To begin, go to the Library's homepage at http://www.utdallas.edu/library/

Find the green Databases tab in the search box, then click the letter 'M.' Scroll on the next page until you find "Mergent Online (company financial information)" and click to enter the database.

Type the Company Name (or ticker symbol) that you would like to research in the Company Search field. It will populate suggestions as you type to help you choose the correct company.

Click Go. It may be necessary to click the company name in a table on the resulting page.

Now that you're on the company's page, follow this navigation to obtain the Common Size Income Statement:

1) Click the blue Company Financials tab

2) Click Standardized

3) Click the Balance Sheet drop-down list and select "Common Size - BS."
