How does the Library find missing books?

Answer

McDermott Library takes preventative measures to avoid loss of assets, such as daily "shelf reading" by area (making sure books are in order and the shelves are straightened) and even taking a full inventory on occasion.

Items that are reported missing will first receive a targeted search, and those that are not found will remain on a list to be searched for up to six months. After six months the item is declared "lost" and the Library must decide whether to replace it.
