How do I avoid overdue fines if I go out of town with library books?

Answer

As an Undergraduate or UTD staff member, you have a borrowing period of 21 days, with a maximum of 6 renewals. Graduates have a full semester loan period, as do Doctoral candidates. If you are not able to come to the Library, you can log in to the Library website to renew your books up to (not including) the day they are due.

Continue to check your UTD email to make sure you don't get a notification that the book was requested by another student. If that happens, you have 21 days to return the book (7 days for DVDs).

If you are out of town and unable to renew, please contact us before the book is overdue. Call (972) 883-2953 or contact via email to explain the circumstance and request an arrangement. If a book is recalled by another student, the book can be mailed to us. Use the same contact info to arrange that beforehand. Note: You are liable for loss or damages in shipping.
