What is a "Smart Room?"
Answer
McDermott Library now provides two Smart Rooms, offering students a new way to collaborate on presentations and class projects. Students can share content from their mobile devices, connect a laptop, record/save/share video (Armadillo Room only), and annotate on the touch screen.
Smart Rooms are available Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. One- or two-hour reservations may be made 24 hours in advance.
Jalapeño Room (Rm 3.602)
- Seats 4
- 70 inch interactive display supports on-screen annotations and touchscreen gestures
- Connections for a laptop, or wireless connection of multiple mobile devices
- Save and share collaborative documents
Armadillo Room (Rm 2.512)
- Seats 8
- 70 inch interactive display supports on-screen annotations and touchscreen gestures
- Connections for a laptop, or wireless connection of multiple mobile devices
- Video recording is supported
- Save and share collaborative documents/video
Reserving a Smart Room
- Go to the Library homepage and find the link to Reserve a Study Room on the right side of the page.
- Select "Smart Rooms" to view availability. Columns in green are available.
- Select from the two rooms based on group size and desired recording capabilities, click the block for the preferred time, then choose 1 hour or 2.
- A confirmation email will be sent, including basic information about using the room. At the time of your reservation, you will receive a brief introduction to the interface from Library staff.
