What Library access do I have as a visiting scholar / guest researcher?

Answer

Visiting scholars may have Library access, depending on how the eCat form is submitted by the department's administrator. With "Library Access" selected, visiting scholars / researchers may borrow up to five items at a time. Interlibrary Loan services are excluded.

It may take up to 48 hours from receipt of this form for the information to be added to our accounts system for borrowing.

Note: Department administrators must submit an eCat form each semester for the scholar / researcher to remain active in the Library's system.

For access to McDermott Library's electronic journals and databases:

A visiting scholar without a NetID should apply for a Community User account at the Services Desk on the 2nd floor in order to be granted access to e-resources while inside the Library. Remote access is not available.

A visiting scholar with a NetID will have access to most Library e-resources while logged into a UTD-owned desktop computer on campus. Remote access is unavailable.

If you experience trouble borrowing from the Library and your department administrator has confirmed that your eCat form is current and the Library Access box was checked, please phone Access Services at (972) 883-2953 or contact via email so that we may investigate further.
