How do I print without a Comet Card?

Answer

It is possible to print at the library or at other locations on campus without your Comet Card as long as you meet the following criteria:

  • You are a currently active UTD student, staff, or faculty member.
(Expired Comet Card accounts, including those of alumni, are ineligible for printing.)
  • You have Comet Cash on your Comet Card account for printing.
(Go to the GET portal to check your Comet Cash balance and add funds if necessary. The library does not accept direct payment of any type - cash or credit - for printing, only Comet Cash.)

Then from any campus computer or your own device:

  1. Log into CometPrint's My Print Centerhttps://cometprint.utdallas.edu/myprintcenter/.
  2. Click Upload to upload each document for printing. (Commonly accepted formats include MS Word, PDF, Excel, PowerPoint, and images.)
  3. Check that each document has the proper settings before sending to print. For example, after selecting an uploaded file, you can adjust the settings in the "Print options" box at the bottom of the screen to print in black and white or color, double-sided, or multiple pages per side, and adjust the number of copies to be printed.
  4. Finally, select the proper destination:
    1. Click "Select a printer" in the box labelled "Destination" at the bottom of the screen.
    2. Type in "MC" and select any MC 2.5 printer that indicates an "online" status, then hit Print.

(Note: Do not select any of the MC 1.314 printers. Those printers will be located downstairs on the first floor in the Sonora Lab. If you sent your print job to any MC 1.314 printer by mistake, it will be waiting for you in the Sonora Lab in MC 1.314.)
    3. All library printers can print in black and white as well as in color. They are loaded with  8.5 in. x 11 in. paper only (standard letter size).
(Note: To print in other page sizes, including on your own paper such as heavy stock or colored paper, you must go to the Founders Computer Lab in FO 1.206. Poster printing is also available in the Founders Lab.)
