How do I access and search the Shoah Visual History Archive?

Accessing Shoah Visual History Archive
The Shoah Visual History Archive is a database of more than 50,000 audiovisual testimonies from survivors and witnesses of the Holocaust and other genocide events.
To access this database, visit the McDermott Library homepage and find the Databases tab, located in the main search area in the center of the page.
On the Databases tab, click the letter S then scroll to find the link to Shoah Visual history Archive. You may be prompted to log in using your NetID and password.
Searching in the Shoah Archive
Shoah can be used without creating an account, but setting up a free account is a good idea if you plan to save your search history. If you prefer to proceed as a guest, skip ahead to step 3.
1) To register for a free account, find the Log In area and click the Register button. Complete the prompts, ensuring that you are using your UT Dallas email address.
2) Choose a username and password you can remember then click Enter to create your account.
3) When you are ready to begin, click the Search button in the top menu. You may then choose to:
- Search by keyword or phrase, names of people or places, or interview number
- Browse a provided list of event survivors by clicking "Experience Groups Search"
- Click Index to review a list of suggested search terms if you're not sure how to start
4) You can use the menu on the left side of your results to limit by collection, language, gender, or experience group.
5) Click a thumbnail image to view the video, find details, or save to a project (logged in users). Navigation controls, including advancing to additional tapes, can be found to the right of the video.
