Answer
What is Naxos Music Library?
McDermott Library subscribes to three performing arts databases from Naxos Digital Services:
Naxos Music Library (NML) contains more than 2.5 million pieces of music and an assortment of educational content. Enrolled UT Dallas students and active faculty and staff can browse by composer/artist, musical category or genre, and music labels. Users can save favorite tracks, and browse curated playlists.
NML's educational content includes:
- A music dictionary and guided tours of composers and periods.
- A "Work Analyses" section that dissects the work of a composer or even specific movements within a piece.
- Eight levels of aural training exercises in melody or rhythm to hone your skills in identifying music elements from tonality, tempo and metre to cadence, performance techniques and identifying musical period.
