What is "Read-and-Publish?"
Answer
What is Read-and-Publish?
The phrase "Read-and-Publish" is a reference to an open access publishing arrangement between a university and a publisher that includes several author benefits in order to encourage open science.
Why use Read-and-Publish?
Read-and-Publish agreements vary but author benefits may include:
- Authors are not required to pay an article processing charge (APC) when submitting to a journal under the agreement.
- Researchers can publish through the publisher and it’s automatically open access.
- The author retains copyright of their work.
- Readership / citation rates can rise significantly when publishing in open access journals, sometimes at triple the rate.
When a Read-and-Publish agreement is in place, the publisher will process your accepted research accordingly; there are no extra steps for the author.
