How do I connect McDermott Library content to my Libby app?

Answer

What is Libby?

Libby is a free mobile app where you can borrow ebooks and digital audiobooks from your library. You can stream titles with Wi-Fi or mobile data, or download them for offline use and read anytime, anywhere.

OverDrive

Libby was developed by OverDrive. This is a service for borrowing ebooks and audiobooks, and it is freely available to all enrolled UT Dallas students and active faculty and staff.

The Eugene McDermott Library chooses which titles are available, updating regularly throughout the year. You will find thousands of titles, from the New York Times and Publishers Weekly best seller lists to many other popular works of fiction and non-fiction.

Accessing OverDrive:

  • Desktop version - Find it listed under the "Databases" tab on the Library homepage, or follow the direct link: OverDrive
  • Phone or tablet - Follow the instructions below to sync this content to your mobile device using Libby.

7) There is a virtual library card presented at this time, confirming that your account is set up and linked to UTD's OverDrive collection.

A virtual library card is displayed with button to rename card below.

TIP: To add even more content, add your card details from your public library! Just click the three-lined menu button at the bottom, center of your Libby app and click "Add Library."
