How can I find sources on the phonology and other features of a particular language?

This FAQ serves a frequent linguistics assignment that asks students to examine the form and history of a specific language.

Answer

We get a lot of versions of this question! In linguistics, they study the form and features of a language and there are some great reference sources to do this.

You will usually want a reference source from a reputable publisher rather than a journal article. Journal articles look at specific questions, whereas reference sources are great for factual overviews.  Here are some sources we recommend for this project:

International Encyclopedia of Linguistics

Compendium of the World's Languages

The Routledge Concise Compendium of the World's Languages

These are all available as eBooks you can view from anywhere with your UTD Net-ID.
