Can O'Reilly Online Library books be downloaded for offline use?
Answer
When accessing O'Reilly Online Library (OOL) titles on a desktop PC or laptop, books must be read in-browser and cannot be downloaded.
On the other hand, users may install the O'Reilly app on their smartphone or tablet (available for Apple and Android devices). The OOL app allows downloading of O'Reilly books for offline access.
How to get access to the O'Reilly app:
- First, register for an O'Reilly Online Library (OOL) account. To do so, users must initially access the O'Reilly Online Library via these instructions.
- After logging into OOL for the first time, users will be sent an email with registration instructions, usually within an hour or less.
Note: Registration is free. Do not submit any payment information. If you are asked for payment information, do not register. If the registration process does not work for you and you are off-campus, it may be necessary to register from on campus. Get in touch with the library for more help.

- After creating an OOL account, users should install the O'Reilly app on their Apple or Android smartphone or tablet. The credentials created from the OOL account registration will grant users full access to the library's O'Reilly Online Library subscription, including the option to download titles for offline use.
Note: Added benefits of the OOL account include note-taking, bookmarks, and direct access to OOL through the O'Reilly site (https://www.oreilly.com/).
