When can I start accessing the library as a student at UTD?
Answer
Students who have enrolled for classes for the first time (or after a long hiatus between semesters) will not be granted library privileges until the first day of classes for which they are enrolled.
For example, a student who has applied and been accepted to the university during the summer for classes that start in the fall will not be able to borrow books or access online library materials until the first day of classes of the fall semester. Access to library resources and services is contingent upon the semester for which the student is enrolled, not the date when the student was accepted to the university. Once the student has officially become fully active at the university (i.e., the first day of classes), they can begin borrowing books, accessing online resources, and enjoying all other privileges granted by the library.
If the incoming student needs to access library materials before their official start date with the university (i.e., first day of classes), they may come to the library in person as a visitor (non-UTD user) to get access to print books and limited access to some online resources via a Community User station (see Information for Visitors for more details).
