Where can I find dissertations and theses?
Answer
Electronic dissertations and theses
UT Dallas students, faculty, and staff have online access to multiple dissertation and thesis databases:
- Dissertations and Theses at University of Texas at Dallas - All papers authored by UT Dallas alumni
- Dissertations and Theses Global - Authors not affiliated with UT Dallas
- Open Dissertations - Hundreds of thousands of publicly available dissertations dating back to 1933
- Treasures @ UT Dallas: Dissertations and Theses - McDermott library's in-house digital repository for select UTD dissertations and theses

Dissertations in print
Selected older dissertations may be available in print through the University Archives, but the library no longer collects recent dissertations in print (electronic only). These documents can be found via a Library Catalog search or by reaching out to the University Archives.
Publishing timeframe
It can take 6 months or longer after submitting one's dissertation or thesis to the Office of Graduate Education (OGE) for it to be published in the ProQuest databases (Dissertations and Theses @ UT Dallas and the Dissertations and Theses Global databases).
Note: The student has the option of delaying the publication of their dissertation/thesis by 3 years during the time of submission. If during that time the student wishes for the document to be published sooner, they may reach out to the OGE at gradeducation@utdallas.edu to request that it be published on Treasures @ UT Dallas, the library's digital repository. Alternatively, the student may reach out to dissepubl@proquest.com to request sooner publication on ProQuest (responsible for the Dissertations and Theses @ UT Dallas and the Dissertations and Theses Global databases).
